DCM Shriram Industries Limited (DSIL) brings its century-old legacy of nation building, engineering excellence, and industrial collaboration into the strategic domain of defence manufacturing. As part of the Government of India’s Make in India initiative, DSIL has forayed into the development and production of advanced defence equipment, reinforcing India’s vision of self-reliance in critical security technologies.
With a strong foundation in large-scale manufacturing and systems integration, DSIL is establishing a fully integrated defence manufacturing facility, being developed in a graduated and scalable manner. This facility is envisioned to serve the evolving requirements of the Indian Armed Forces and Homeland Security Organisations, delivering robust, reliable, and mission-ready platforms.
DSIL has been granted Industrial Licenses by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, to manufacture Multi Role Armoured Vehicles, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), Communication Equipment, and Opto-Electronic Devices. These licenses reflect the company’s compliance with stringent regulatory standards and its readiness to contribute to India’s defence ecosystem.
In the armoured mobility segment, DSIL has designed, developed, and manufactured technologically advanced Multi Role Armoured Vehicles tailored for modern battlefield and internal security operations. The company has successfully developed prototypes of Light Bullet Proof Vehicles (LBPVs), including ZEBU Carmel Lite and ZEBU Carmel, built on 2.2L Manual Transmission and 3.2L Automatic Transmission platforms.
These vehicles feature a modular design architecture, enabling customization up to STANAG Level-I protection or specific customer-defined operational requirements.
