At Shriram Rayons, sustainability is embedded into our operational philosophy and long-term growth strategy. We are committed to responsible manufacturing, environmental stewardship, resource efficiency and inclusive community development. Our approach integrates Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles to create long-term value for stakeholders while minimizing ecological impact.
Environmental Sustainability
Energy Efficiency & Climate Action
- Continuous reduction in specific energy consumption across operations.
- Adoption of energy-efficient technologies and process optimization initiatives.
- Increased usage of agro-based fuels in place of fossil fuels.
- Regular monitoring of Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.
- Periodic energy audits and corrective action implementation.
Water Stewardship
- Responsible water withdrawal and consumption monitoring.
- Recycling and reuse of treated wastewater within operations.
- Strengthening of Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) systems to improve discharge quality.
Waste Management & Circular Economy
- Scientific handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste as per regulatory approvals.
- Maximizing recycling and minimizing landfill disposal.
- Returnable metallic shell rolls recalled from customers and reused to promote circularity.
Air Emissions & Pollution Control
- Installation of fogger machines to suppress fugitive dust emissions.
- Wet scrubbers installed at boilers to reduce stack emissions.
- Continuous monitoring and adherence to prescribed emission standards.
End-of-Life Product & Waste Management Processes
Plastics (Including Packaging)
The main product of SR serves as an input material for customers who manufacture finished goods. Post-sale products do not return to the Company for reclamation. Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), wherever applicable for plastic packaging, is fulfilled in accordance with the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016. All statutory compliance filings and returns are submitted periodically.
E-Waste
SR does not manufacture or reclaim electronic products. Any e-waste generated internally is handed over to authorized and certified recyclers for safe disposal in compliance with the E-Waste (Management) Rules.
Hazardous Waste
Hazardous waste generated within operations is handled, stored, transported, and disposed of strictly in accordance with authorizations granted by the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board. Where applicable, hazardous waste is co-processed in captive facilities or disposed of through authorized vendors.
Other Waste
Other non-hazardous waste generated during operations is disposed of in an environmentally responsible manner through authorized agencies.
Sustainable Sourcing
The Company has established procedures for sustainable sourcing of inputs.
- Shriram Rayons (SR) – 74% of inputs sourced sustainably.
Regulatory Compliance & Corrective Action
During the reporting period, an environmental compensation of ₹49 lakh was imposed in relation to air and water pollution standards at the Kota unit. Corrective measures have been implemented and compliance has been strengthened in line with regulatory requirements.
Business Continuity & Disaster Management
SR has an On-site Emergency Response Plan in compliance with BCIMAH Rules, 1991. The framework addresses operational and environmental risks. Regular emergency preparedness drills are conducted, including participation in off-site drills organized by government authorities.
